Corrections log
Everything we have got wrong, since launch
We correct on the page, keep the old wording visible in the note, and add a permanent row here. We do not silently edit, we do not delete an article to make an error disappear, and we do not remove old rows.
Newest first. Editorial fixes that do not change meaning are not logged.
Correction
The article said something untrue. The text is fixed, a note is appended, and the row is logged. On a safety claim the note stays at the top of the article for 30 days.
Clarification
The fact was right but readable the wrong way. Rewritten, noted, logged. Most of these come from readers telling us how they read a sentence.
Update
New evidence, a new statute, or a retraction of something we cited. The article is revised and the check date advanced. Turnaround target is two working days on Safety and Law, five elsewhere.

Tell us we got something wrong
Give us the article, the paragraph, and what you think the right answer is. If you have a source, that speeds things up enormously. We reply to every message that names a specific claim, usually within five working days, and we log every correction including the ones that make us look bad.
